Mitchell's trail descriptions are right in my experience. I've traveled most of the trails in 3 of his guides. I have an 88 4Runner. They have good clearance and a short wheelbase and do well.
If you buy a new one, get the larger tire option and the electric rear differential locker if they offer it. Take off any goofy running boards and have fun.
