Lara the route around the south end of the lake is good. That is the route I took out of DV when we where up there with Emmett. The route across the fan from Fish Canyon is a bit rough, as you know.
JKB the road over the Slate Range is on the South side of Fish Canyon about a mile from the mouth of the Canyon. Heading east to west, I would say have 4wheel drive and low range, a few short hillclimbs are steep and on a narrow razorback, not a good place to back down if you loose traction
