Bravo on you first visit. It most likely won’t be your last. I suggest a first stop at the visitor’s center at Furnace Creek. And while you’re there be sure to see the museum where there is a good collection of equipment used during the early days of DV. Other sites of interest include Ubehebe Craters, Scotty’s Castle, the sand dunes, Salt Creek (where the pup fish live), Harmony Borax works, Zabriskie Point, Dantes View, Bad Water, the Charcoal kilns, etc. Some off-road sites of interest (non-four wheel drive) include Titus Canyon, the Racetrack, and the West Side Road.
Take your camera and lots of film (or memory sticks). Also, take plenty of sack food and water along as you tour around the area. This is especially important if you’re going to be in some of the more remote areas. Beware of the heat. It is not forgiving. If your visit is during the warmer months, then your water needs become more important. So, take lots of water.
Enjoy the sites and sounds.
