This kid has more to worry about than an uncased/unloaded firearm within the National Park. This is California, and the modified 12GA he's holding is an "assult weapon" by definition, which is banned by State law. Possession of an "assult weapon" in California is a felony. (There is a vague provision in the law allowing for the "registration" of assult weapons in California; however, only approximately 20,000 such weapons were registered before the 12-31-00 deadline - out of an estimated 300,000+ that the Department of Justice reported in existence in the State. Feeling any strain on your Constitutional rights lately? If not, move to California!
