A couple points of interest for Mike and mapswain. BE SURE that it's an old aerial range be for you enter it. BE SURE it's an old aerial range that has been turned back [not likly] for civilian use. DO NOT pick up any unexploded ordinance, it can bite the hell out of you. DO NOT poke thru targets [i.e. APC's left out there to be targets] as they can have unexploded ordinance in them. IF you DON'T take this advise, and that's all it is, you may be able to get some real good pix of a Blackhawk as he circles overhead checking you out. You will probably be requested to stay where you are, or maybe asked to move to a particular area so the guys in the HumVees can have a stop and talk with you. That is if they don't land for a stop and talk. The reason I pass this infornation on is that my brother is a civilian chopper pilot at Ft. Irwin. From what he says, the military is real particular about who visits their desert real estate and goes poking around their game playing areas. They still fire alot of HE ordinance out there and not all of it explodes on impact. In fact this week there is a parachute battalion or regiment from Alaska going thru war games out on Ft. Irwin.
