Not quite talking washing board roads, but up hill alternating wash board trails, the main cause is open diffs going up steep dirt 2 tracks where one then the other wheel gets and loses traction and digs a whole, and ultimately never makes it up the incline, but ruins the trail. If you're going to go in serious places, at least get a rear locker.
