Yes, you can camp at the Eureka Valley Dunes and there is a pit toliet there at the picnic site. It's a great spot to camp too because at night you can drag a blanket and a good bottle of wine half way up the dunes and enjoy the stars. The only company I usually get out there is the kangaroo rats and those curious beetles that live out there, although I've never headed out that way on a holiday weekend. As far as I know you can camp along the Steel pass road. It's a rough road at points, so it's best driven in daylight. I imagine you might have some company out at the Hot Springs if you end up there, but they are still nice to visit and a soak in the warm waters is always inviting...yes, even in the summer. And Lizard Lee is out at the springs and has a radio if you get into trouble. You'll have a good time no matter what you decide. Just always bring extra supplies (food, water, tires) just in case. --Michelle
