I'm thinking the above article was based upon well-graded dirt/gravel roads, where most icebergs have been removed. That's not the case in DV, where airing down may smooth out your ride, but increase likelyhood of hitting an iceberg wrong and flattening your tire.

Anyone know the definitive answers on causes of flat tires? Does airing down increase chance of same?

I only air down for deep sand, mud, or snow, and despite years of high-speed, abusive driving, have never had a flat in the backcountry. Am I just lucky? I don't know.
