4WD does help when you hit sand piles or gravel piles. It also splits the load between the front
and back axle. In 2WD all the power is going to
the rear wheels. If your rear wheels are lightly
loaded 4WD would help traction wise. The normal
washboard situation it probably does not make a
difference other than the situations described
above. I
