Bjorn, we just returned from the very hot Central Valley of CA, where yesterday it was easily 106 deg. and probably hotter where we were visiting near Bakersfield. As I'm sure you know from your local areas of Sweden, there are many microniches anywhere on the planet; and if you were to put calibrated thermometers all around your town, you would find a range of temperatures high-to-low, varying by several degrees. That is also especially true here in CA, with its extremely diverse topography and climate zones. Yesterday was one of the hottest days I've ever experienced; and temps were recorded in the 120s from Bullhead City, AZ to spots in the deserts of CA. Record temps must be recorded by certified, calibrated thermometers and verified by official agencies and/or boards. As you obviously know, weather observation, especially in its extremes, is a fascinating hobby. Good luck in your hunt for temperature records.
