Back in the late 1960s our Cub Scout pack got some obsidian and chipped away making our own arrowheads. After everybody was tired and took their favorite one(s) home, I gathered up a hundred or so left behind. My dad kept them in a sack in his truck, and every time we went our rockhounding in the desert, we salted selected areas with these specimens. Now, every time someone tells a story about finding old Indian arrowheads I always chuckle a bit. I wonder how many of those knockoffs have been picked up and treasured by their new owners as ancient artifacts!
