Desert Dog, what makes you think everyone wants to hang around and eat/sleep with strangers while using these sites? Many people get remote for privacy. I agree that the volunteers should have access to their adopted sites, and some workable (and reasonable) scheduling for maintenance during selected, non-holiday weekends is fine; however, any drop-ins for any reason are rude no matter what the intentions. If the Adopt A Cabin program was intended to be for communal gatherings, that purpose would have been recognized by the BLM. Remember, any responsible party using the cabins are doing their own clean up and basic maintenance. As for the idiots that trash the sites and leave messes; hey, there are irresponsible slobs that need a good ass-kicking everywhere you go. If you witness such abuse, report them to the authorities or make them clean up the place under threat of bodily harm.
