My husband and I ran a photo field trip for his photojournalism class last week. First, I will say that anything in Death Valley is worthy of photographing, it's such a beautiful area. However, to pick and choose for a the few days we were there, we spent several hours in Rhyolite, and Mosaic Canyon, hit Zabrieski Point in the morning when we finally had sun after those storms, Mushroom Rock, and Badwater.

Before the field trip we spent two days in Beatty, and explored and photographed Rhyolite & Bullfrog on our own. We stayed in the new Motel 6 which is owned by the Stagecoach Inn. Brand new 3 story facilities. Quite nice, very reasonably priced, even had internet hook-up for our laptop, which we weren't expecting. We ate our meals at the Stagecoach Inn, and a little Mexican place the name of which escapes me right now, but was quite good.

All of the places that everyone has mentioned are photogenic - it's just up to you what you decide to do. Have a great time and keep an eye on current weather and road reports!
