North is closed. South is heavily washboarded. You have a choice, 45 mph or 10 mph. As you decend towards the bottom of the valley along the South route, there are two spots with this type of arrow "<" warning of sharp curves. Be sure to really slow at these two points, they are deadly curves and have taken the lives of others in years past. Bring a set of chains. If snow comes, your Vanagon may need them to get out. Cable chains are fine. I will be there with my family. We'll be at the "palm springs". White Ford F250 with white shell, mandolin, fiddle, and lots of firewood. I'm 47, wife is 41, son is 10. Say "Hello" if you find us. By the way, I was a mechanic for VW for many years and I always travel with tools.
