When I was first at China Garden about 45 years ago, we looked for evidence of a farm. All we found were some old mining buildings nearby. It would be interesting to find out how good the soil at China Garden is. There certainly is water nearby.
Here's another idea: In the days when there were still old garbage dumps at abandoned cabins and towns, you often saw pieces of broken blue and white "Willow pattern" dishes. Along Darwin Creek you can see wildflowers blooming among handsome blue and white rocks. Could the name refer to the dish kind of china?
