Lots of flat tires at Saline

We had great weather at Saline this past thanksgiving weekend. It was on the cold side but ZERO wind!

It was a banner year for flat tires. There were at least 6 that I knew of at the less populated Palm Springs. On my way out I came across a fellow driving a Montero at 35 mph up the grapevine with only three tires, the fourth tireless wheel worn down all the way to the brake drum. When I stopped him, he got out of the car, looked at the mangled wheel and said "I didn't even notice it"!

In my 20 years of many visits per year I have never had a flat. I always switch out the OEM tires as soon as I buy a new truck. I always have used BFG All Terrain T/A's , Mud Terrains or Dunlop RV Rover.

In speaking with most of the recipients of flats this last weekend, they all were over inflated to the max that is stated on the tire or something above the vehicles recommended pressure. When explaining to them that lower pressures are easier on the tires, some took my advice, others didn't. It's like a balloon, blow it to the max and anything will pop it. Anyway, just my thoughts on the matter.
