This is taken from the minutes of the last Friends of Jawbone Meeting:

"David Ayers brought up the fact that many motorcyclists are very adamant about the Burro Schmidt Tunnel site and not wanting any changes to take place there. David is leaving the area in order to make a living. Linn suggested giving his BLM telephone number to people who are concerned about what is going to happen to the site so he can explain the situation to them. Linn did explain that the original cabin and Tonie’s addition will be maintained. Some of the other items do not meet the criteria for public lands and some of it is unsafe. Maturango Museum is working with BLM. There are plans to have the area all cleaned up by March 1, 2004. There are no funds for paying a caretaker. There was some discussion about a MOU with Maturango Museum and the caretaker at Bickel Camp. Friends of Jawbone offered to help if they can. Details need to be worked out as to liability, etc."
