I think most of the early responses to Another Kook's posting were pretty accurate here. I remember inquiring with BLM about the possibility of improving the Rader's Cabin/mine site in upper South Park under the Adopt A Cabin program. I was told that I would have to get permission from the owner before it could be part of the program. At that point, I gave up the idea having been informed by the locals that the owners were the ones who had blasted the hole in the South Park Canyon road (where the pole bridge now spans the gap). They wanted to have only one access to the area as their activities were a bit on the sneak. I remember thinking that BLM's position only made sense regarding the owner's rights. Too bad that I lost interest cause a couple of years later the cabin had been completely flattened. And the area is now a part of DVNP so that was the end of that.
So if the BLM is still following the same rules, then something is amiss with Another Kook's claims. No pun intended.
