After the fiasco with Bickle camp years ago, I think the BLM has learned a lesson. They may not keep everything intact as we know it now up at Burro Schmidt's, but I believe they will do what they can to keep the original cabin, Tonie's place and the tunnel available. Of course only time will tell.

I think the biggest hurdle for any group or organization that does tackle this is probably time and money. I have not heard, but I would imagine this is what stopped the Friends of Jawbone from carrying things any further. And depending upon what the status of the current caretaker, David, finding someone that is willing to be a caretaker and making it worth their while to do so monetarily would be an obstacle.

Those of us who are so concerned can always write letters to the BLM and let them know how we feel. And if we have time to volunteer we should let them know that as well. At the very least if we voiced our opinions, we knew that we tried.
