Personally I abhorr those steel can stoves for two main reasons - more difficult to find fuel (particularly so if you're not using propane), more bulk and weight to carry in and out (big problem if you're hiking). It's also less environmentally friendly with the packaging.
The stove I do like very much is my MSR Whisperlite that I've had for 10+ years. Naturally it burns white gas at about 5 bucks a gallon but also unleaded fuel with no jet change. With unleaded you can buy exactly as much as needed and it's less than 2 bucks a gallon (until summer). If you swap the jet you can also burn jet fuel and kerosene but I've never had trouble finding unleaded here (duh).
The Whisperlite had a very deserved reputation as only being "on" or "off" with no in between settings. I guess now they have a new one called the Simmerlite, apparently to fix that problem.
