Dunno - that looks pretty scary for a first-timer. Think they (the main players in all these photos) took lots of water, spare tires, and traveled in large groups for safety? Think they called ahead (or posted on discussion boards)for road conditions? Think they had 4WD and a GPS, satellite phone, and a laptop with all the latest 7.5 topos loaded??? Think they obeyed all the rules and never drove off the marked roads?
On second thought, who cares? When I go,PLEASE toss me out there with the rest of the desert trash. Let me become an "antiquity", let someone (as Ed Abbey said) stumble across my bleached bones someday and wonder...??? Beautiful pics, and probably the most beautiful place in the world to be "laid to rest".
And besides, nothing could be better than completing the food chain and making some poor old desert coyote a little less skinny.
I have confronted death more than once - a couple of times out in the desert - and beaten it every far. But when the odds or old age catch up with me, please plant me out there, if the BLM or the NPS hasnt legislated otherwise. And one favor to ask - if you stumble over my leftovers, and have a beer to spare - bring it on...
