I'm sure many of us would like to help, but how many of us have even 1 day on a regular basis we could spend out there? All of the people I know have regular jobs, families, and many other obligations. They would be willing to spend a day or a weekend here and there, but couldn't on a regular basis. Would be nearly impossible to find enough people to watch the place all of the time, particularly on a volunteer basis.

The biggest problem I see is the funding to hire several people to watch the tunnel in shifts, or fulltime. I know the Friends of Jawbone don't have the money. Now it would be nice if there was someone that loved the desert and it's history, had no other obligations to worry about, and was independently wealthy enough that they could volunteer to live at Burro Schmidt's, and put some of their own money into the place as needed, but I doubt that there's many of those types of people around.
