There is a significant problem with Hantavirus in the Norhtern Owens Valley. People are instructed not to churn up dust (cabins, garages,etc), unless wearing a good ventilated mask. Also do not directly handle rodent carcasses or droppings. Bleach is supposed to aleviate the possibility of infection. I purchased an old car in Benton and wore a mask for 2 weeks while working on it, until I removed all traces of dust and rodentia.
