Hi Linda, The official NPS Visitor's Guide To DV states the average maximum temperature for March as 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Average minimum for March as 53 degrees. April's average maximum is 90 degrees, with an average minimum of 62 degrees. These are the official average temperatures at Furnace Creek Campground which is -196 feet below Sea Level. Humidity is very low. There are cooler campgrounds at 1800' which is Mesquite Spring near Scotty's Castle; and others higher in elevations up to 8200'. The Visitor's Guide also states that the best time to hike in DV is October thru April. You may request a free copy of the "Visitor's Guide To Death Valley" at P.O. Box 579, Death Valley, CA 92328 or phone (760)786-3200. The Guide has 8 pages of information about all aspects for visiting, hikes, animals, cautions, interpretive services, etc. You may be treated to a colorful wildflower bloom if weather cooperates. Visit DV's website at >www.nps.gov/deva< for a wealth of DV info. I've been visiting DV since 1936, and still actively enjoy its many facets at 74. I've been on hikes with hardy old souls in their 90's!
