True, as with everything, trailers involve trade-offs. Yes, the speed limit is lower, and backing up is a huge, huge pain. Everything gets dusty, whether it's in the trailer, on the roof, or even inside my truck. My gas mileage is actually better, compared to loading even half what fits in my trailer onto my roof rack (because of aerodynamics). My wheels and tires are all the same size. It's convenient to set up a base camp around the trailer, then leave on daytrips with just the truck. And, yes, I hear "take less stuff" ALL the time ... except when everyone else has run out of beer, or firewood, or propane, or needs to borrow any of the myriad parts/tools/supplies I can carry in my trailer, which wouldn't fit in/on the truck. For short trips, I make do without it, but for longer expeditions, I see the trailer as a huge plus.
