I think this is the Bandit trying to throw you guys off the trail, not only with the Goler Wash part, but also the South Pass route. Unless he will be coming in via Panamint Springs, then over South Pass, down in to Saline, out over Steele Pass, then east over the Last Chance Range via Hanging Rock, south through Furnace, up Warm Springs, through Butte Valley, then down Goler and back up Pleasant, over to Middle Park and then down South Park. Besides that the original Briggs Cabin is no longer in existence, but the Briggs Camp Cabin is? I definitely think this is the Bandit!
