MURS is limited to 2 watts ERP. GMRS is 5 watts, with a directional antenna if neccesary.
MURS is around 150 mhz, FRS is 460mhz. The difference being a lower moise floor at the higher freq, but more groundwave antenuation.
I'll take 5 watts UHF any day over 2 watts VHF
