I've used trays like that. My major objection has been ground clearance/departure angle offroad. Also they tend to be a little wobbly side-to-side. But a good place to put light/bulky items. The other considereation is opening your tailgate. For one trip, I took a receiver-mounted bike rack, hinged so it could swing to one side, then hung just the tray part of an assembly like the MasterBuilt from it. That got it up further from the ground ... and let me get into the back of my truck.
