Pt, theres no validation for human preditors like this bandeeto character or any other common thief. But keep in mind this person is trying to live/exist in the problem area. and is feeding off these unaware campers and creatures of habit. i dont know how long the victims of the crimes have lived in the area, or if they live their at all, but unlike suberbia, people are fewer and farther between out here, and unfamilar faces seen more than once are usually noticed by local dwellers atune to their immediate enviroment.
dont get me wrong, i would hope this person is caught, but i wouldn't put my faith in Government Rangers or Sheriffs or this posse of hollywood hang em high vigilante weekend posers either. pack a pistol if your insecure with your surroundings, better yet camp with a good dog, not a pet..a good dog will skillfully flushout any thing within a couple miles of your camp with vigor,.I.prefer Queensland heelers stealthy and they like their job.. forget the rottweillers and pit bulls.. they belong in backyards on chains.
death valley is a huge place, ive lived in this area 30 years, after 20 living behind the orange curtain of encroachment in SoCal. I rarely go hike or camp in the same place twice in a year..theres just way tooo much to see in one lifetime here, in this place called inyo.. enjoy
