One would lose about 10% from a good inverter using a 120V power supply for your laptop. You
might want to check out a 12V power supply for
your laptop. Most laptop manufacturers offer these for use in a car. This would make your battery last longer.

It depends on the laptop. Newer intel based laptops take a lot less juice than older units
but my guess for a full sized laptop while in
charging mode and running the laptop would take
about 5 amps at 12 volts so if you have a 100AH
battery that would give you about 50AH to use and
it would run your laptop for at least 15 hours.
The load will drop after your battery is recharged. I am assuming you have a deep cycle
battery and not a starting battery. Starting batteries should not be drawn down more than 85%
for long life. Deep cycle batteries can be drawn
down to 50%. The more you draw down the fewer cycles you can do it so size your battery to the
load for long life.
