if you are unsure of your radiators condition take it to a radiator shop and have them pull off the inlet tank and check it out. some engines(ford 5.0 and almost all gm products that use red coolant) produce little rocks that plug up the passages. i would never use acid or any type of flush. Keep in mind that on a day that is 100* with the ac on the temp of the air entering the radiator is over 160*! If you work on your own vehicle i would recommend first getting the radiator rodded out then install an inline GANO FILTER. its clear so you can see whats going on, it can be purchased online. A $100 rod-out and coolant filter is alot cheeper than head gaskets or a motor. see http://www.lbeonline.com/ganofilter/
