Thankyou, David A. WrightPosted by Swanlady on June 24, 2004 at 14:51:26:
I, checked out your site at Great Basin Research, and clicked my way back to historic, Silver City, Idaho, where I spent a few great childhood years. What a flood of enjoyable flashbacks! My grandfather's hotel is still is still standing. He would be so very proud of that. My father, hauled mail into Silver City residents, during the winter, over the snow, with a sled pulled by horses. He allowed me to go along with him, often. The last time I was there, I was in my early twenties. I had not returned since childhood. When my parents announced we were leaving, as a child, I hid some treasures, I knew my mother would throw away when we moved. As an adult, when I returned, on a visit. I found my cave, I hid my treasures in, dug down in the floor of it, about two feet and dug up my treasures, my toy metal cash register, with real money hidden in it, and my toy rubber ball. Under these treasures were some of my childhood sketches, still in good condition. In the early forties children were taught, it was a "sin" for a child to waste time drawing pictures! I, am still an artist, but the drawings, I found that day, are still my favorite treasures. I think I remember another cave, hm-m-m, I wonder if........?
