Our last trip was this spring and we were camped next to a guy that had ice cold beer after a week using conventional ice chest type cooler, two inch thick insulation from a hardware store, and his rig was set up on two by fours, and had silver reflective material as a sunshield...but, his SECRET - - - - Instead of freezing water into blocks, he bought GRAPEFRUIT juice..not just any grapefruit juice(he has done the research), but Tropicana fresh squeezed pure grapefruit juice, and froze it solid right in the paperwax store containers. Apparently once it is frozen, it stays frozen a long time! Cheaper and safer than dry ice, and when he was done with em, he had grapefruit slushies...Has to do with the freezing point of the liquid. I SWEAR, I am not making this up!!! We are trying it next time!
