His camp was in Johnson Canyon off West Side Road. He had a 1953 Chevy car. It had the plates off of a '96 Toyota PU that had been reported stolen. Although the car was stolen it had not been reported as such. There was an ATV trailer but the ATV (stolen) was missing. Also found was a gun, metal detector and wallet. Someone reported a guy in the Shoshone area walking down the road carrying a gas can. A CHP airplane was sent up and the bandit was located in a wash in the Ibex pass area. When deputies and Rangers responded he fatally shot himself. So who was the Ranger that busted the case wide open in Johnson Canyon? It was Dave Brenner, a BLM RANGER! Good work Dave!!!!!
