Just came through a hassle with the Forest Service about another of those inaccurate old surveys. USFS told us that the boundaries of our inholding (an old homestead inside the Salmon-Trinity Wilderness) were wrong due to a "fraudulent survey". They were to be changed immediately.

The next year the govt. surveyors came hacking through our trees. A year later we were told our property lines would be moved a quarter mile west. The whole idea disappeared when the desk jockeys finally realized this would put us on the shore of a very nice fishing lake.

The instigators of this idea were USFS. The surveyors were BLM. Each agency played dumb and referred us to the other.

The image of the old surveyors leap-frogging their chain all day across the desert is wonderful. We were told that "our" old surveyors did a lot of drunken drawing on maps in a hotel room in Yreka.
