Yup. I have a brother there in Palmdale. He does magic for Boeing. When we all were still young and innocent and still lived down below behind the Orange Curtain we used to take short trips to the desert between Pear Blossom and Palmdale. Back then you could just lock in the hubs and drive off out in the desert, make camp, build a fire, launch bullets if you wanted, whatever. There also used to be this neat little restaurant on the east edge of Palmdale that had this cool little model train thing that ran on a track inside the dining room. They made the most wonderful Bloody Mary's. Those things could heal the dead. I know that for a fact. Those daze are long gone and far gone, too. Sad.
This would typically be one of the times we would jam out there as the Perseids are peaking late tonight. Watch towards the NE after midnight. Hell, just head out towards Mojave into open desert and watch. Take your cell and call in sick. Or drunk, your choice.
