I’m sorry if you got the wrong impression about my “experiment”.
In no way I’m trying the “ram” approach. I’m just curious how far you can go without endangering the DV and its roads, vehicle and passengers.
The last trip (Dedeckera and Lippencott) was result of careful planning and gathering of information.

If there is an obstacle which requires road work (like stacking the rocks) or pushing the vehicle over it’s limits, I simply turn back.
With proper driving technique there is no or very little wheel spinning, so damage to the road is not an issue.

It doesn’t matter which kind of transportation is used, 2WD or 4WD, as long as it is used responsibly. The first one reaches the limits sooner, and that’s the only difference. If you know and respect those limits, than 2WD is as safe as 4WD.

From all the information gathering lately I know perfectly well that Loop is beyond 2WD without risking too much.

On the other side, all the other roads are in really good condition and I’ll use the moment before the upcoming rainfall season in June/July.

Anyways, I attend to stick around DV for many years using all means of transportation (by foot, bike, 2WD and 4WD).

Best Regards,
DV Fan
