Dezdan,
Thanks for the advice; I've long regarded the computer as magic, but incantations, sharp blows to a brass gong and burning incense really don't seem to get the job done.
I met Berman once. My wife and I had driven up Refugio Road one foggy day and near the crest of the mountain we stopped and I walked over to a house to ask for directions. It was the home of Berman of Saline Valley fame. We talked for a time in his shop where he made wrought iron objects; he spoke of his time in India and about being a next-door neighbor to the President of the United States. He seemed to be a pleasant and interesting fellow. When he and his wife went missing I followed the search for he and his wife with interest. It was my understanding that his father moved a large RV out to the valley while an extensive search was made for the missing pair. It is also my understanding that the authorities have some ideas about the murders but no proof.
