Yeah, but I think just about everybody would react the same way you would.
We do have some commercialization of the newsgroup - for instance we post where to buy particular books, etc, and their are advertizing banners on the website.
Personally, I would have no problem with a short and clear posting of a relevant item/service from someone. Anything else would just ensure that I would avoid the service / product like a plague.
