In the Yosemite Valley one year an off-duty LA cop stopped at a picnic area. There was a piece of 3" PVC pipe with caps on both ends laying on a picnic table. He immediately suspected a pipe bomb. Yosemite Rangers were called in and they concurred that it was a pipe bomb. The area was closed off and the Fresno County Bomb Squad was called in. Not wanting to disturb the 'device' it was decided to blow it in place. They exploded the 'Pipe Bomb' and shit went everywhere! Literally. Turns out that the rock climbers use these devices to defacate in and a climber had left his used one at the picnic ground. Funny, there was never any mention of this incident in the Park Service Morning Report!
