I live in Ridgecrest and it is rated as the lowest cost of living area in the entire communist state of California. I have seen many an advertisement for homes in Trona in the $5,000 to $10,000 range, and no, I didn't leave off any zeroes! Here in Ridgecrest they are higher, more like $25,000 and up, unless you can live in a mobile home, which you can get for $15,000 and up, including land. From here to beautiful Death Valley is about 1 1/2 hour drive.....
