I too bought a Garmin E-Trex Legend. Found it very useful. Still carry maps. Great for finding where you are on a map. I also like marking points to see where I have been and helps find the spot again. I like the altimiter (sp?)feature and plan on finding the lowest spot in DV this spring. The downloadable maps are wonderful.
