I, for one, am looking forward to regaining access to classic routes that have been closed by misguided environmentalist groups exploiting the courts to bypass our elected officials and legislation. Public land should be accessible to the public, and I for one am glad to see our executive branch working to ensure we can do so instead of bending to the whim of a vocal few. Kudos to George Bush!

FWIW, the Saline Valley Road has always been a County Road, and is maintained by Inyo County road crews. Why you think counties and other agencies that struggle to maintain the roads they already have would mount campaigns to pave roads that don't serve their constituents is beyond me. There are lots of unpaved County roads...

I mean, REALLY... go post on the Sierra Club board or something.

Oh, and finally if NPS has been resisting paving then why have they embarked on this huge project to repave and widen the road to Badwater?
