ECV stands for "E Clampus Vitus" - a fine and noble organization dating from time immemorial that "protects the widows and orphans, but especially widows and older female orphans."

Their "Song of Disrespect" contains the words, "The miner came in '49, the whore in '51. And when they got together, they produced the 'native son.'"

The Clampers generally stick to commemorating historical structures and places, although they are well known for pulling hijinks on each other (reminds me of Shriners).

I am not a Clamper, but I am hesitant to rush to judgment as to whether more than one individual is responsible for this act.
