I sent your photos to Doug at Cactus By Mail, and what you have is a Agave stricta commonly referred to as a Hedgehog Agave. It is native to central Mexico and is one of a very few Agaves the dose not die after it blooms. It loves full sun and is drought hardy, so don't over water it, especially from above, as it could rot.
