There is a wonderful book called Pete Aguereberry, Death Valley Prospector & Gold Miner, by George C. Pipkin The book gives no mention of punching cattle in Titus Canyon. Petes early years in California centered around the San Joaquin Valley, high sierra mountains and Sacramento Valley. It was stated in the book that he made three loops around the sierras herding sheep. In 1899 it states that he was working at the Spanish ranch outside of Elko. In 1902 he drove cattle from Bishop to Tonopah. Shortly after this he was bitten by the gold bug and the herding days where over.
