Last week I tried to drive out of the park using this route at night. I was in a stock Ford Explorer and got hung up on a huge rock Mid-Mengle Pass. All 4 tires were spinning and not digging in. I used the tire jack to get out of the mess and went back in the direction I came from. I wasn't sure what was ahead and just wanted to get back to familiar territory. An extra 3 inches of clearance would have been smooth sailing.
