Although this site was originally erected as a means for Panamint Springs Resort to boost its reservations (which doubled in one year after launching), the Editor has outdone himself by organizing a fabulous gold mine of information and links. From the Home Page, one can book online lodging reservations, read the park's morning report, and tap a foot to Danny Ray Thomas' song, "Valley of Despair" (..."Here a man would have to prove, that he had a right to live"...). The Exploring section bounds with informative descriptions of 26 backcountry & 4X4 trips and 26 hiking trails within the park. There are direct links to weather reports and maps, camping and facility info, and directions from all points. The gem of Death Valley Gold includes 16 articles and photos, featuring contributions by noted historians Jean and LeRoy Johnson. Once your appetite is wet, the Gift Shop has nearly 40 publications on the subject that are immediately available from Amazon.com. And, of course, Death Valley Talk is the place to be to keep up on local happenings. I only wish those students that post messages asking readers to do their homework would first peruse the wealth of information contained herein. Kudos to the editor and webmaster! Disclaimer: I am not affiliated in any way with this site or Panamint Springs Resort. This is an unsolicited critique by a frequent visitor meant to recognize the efforts of all who have made this website what it is. Thank you!
