it also reads 65 miles to randsburg- funny doesn't even mention ridgecrest. maybe didn't exist then along with china lake NWC?
it looks like it says 55 miles to granite wells the opposite direction. i can only guess that granite wells is what we know as stovepipe wells, as the milage fits.
