I've been to Death Valley twice - once totally on 4-wheel drive trails in Februaty with beautiful weather, and comfortable temperatures. The second time was last October, same type of weather, but on a geology field trip where most of the people had two wheel drive vehicles. Plenty to do either way. Enjoy! And definitely plan on at least two days, preferrably more.
